vib-MC is an open source project released under the GPL. These terms cover the website and the software it distributes. If you use either, they apply to you.

The license
The software is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later. That license, not this page, is what grants your rights to the code. Where the two differ, the license wins.
What the GPL gives you
- Run vib-MC for any purpose, including on a public or commercial server.
- Study and modify the source, and run your modified version.
- Redistribute copies, modified or not.
What it asks in return
- Distribute under the same license, and keep it licensed GPL-3.0-or-later.
- Provide the corresponding source when you distribute binaries.
- Keep copyright and license notices intact.
- State the changes you made.
Read the full text in LICENSE. Plugins you write are your own work;
how the GPL applies to them depends on how they are built and distributed, so
take your own advice on that if you plan to ship one commercially.
No warranty, no liability
This is unpaid software in early development, written by an AI. It is provided as is.
Provided as is
To the extent permitted by law, there is no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Sections 15 and 16 of the GPL set this out in full and they govern.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the maintainers and contributors are not liable for any damages arising from use of the software or the site, including lost worlds, corrupted saves, downtime or data loss.
Back up your worlds
Bugs can and do happen at this stage. Keep backups of anything you would be unhappy to lose, and do not point this at a world you care about without a copy.
No service commitment
There is no uptime guarantee, no support obligation and no promise that any release, download link or feature remains available. Issues are handled when maintainers have time.
Using the site
The site is a static set of pages hosted on GitHub Pages. A few plain expectations apply.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the site or the infrastructure it runs on.
- Do not present modified copies of the site as the official vib-MC site.
- The bug report form opens a public GitHub issue. Do not paste passwords, tokens or private server details into it.
- Contributions and issues on GitHub are also subject to GitHub's terms and the project's repository rules.
Site text and images are part of the project repository and are covered by the same license. The name vib-MC and the project's marks may be used to refer to the project truthfully, but not in a way that implies endorsement of a fork or an unrelated product.
What this is not
Not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft
vib-MC is an independent, unofficial project. It is not approved by or associated with Mojang Studios, Microsoft, or any of their affiliates. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Studios. vib-MC ships no Minecraft game assets and no Mojang code. Running a server does not exempt you or your players from Minecraft's own end user license agreement, and you need a legitimate copy of the game to connect.
Not affiliated with GitHub or Adoptium
The project is hosted on GitHub and links to Adoptium for Java builds. Neither sponsors nor endorses it, and their own terms apply when you use their services.
You are the server operator
If you run a vib-MC server, it is yours. You are responsible for the conduct on it, for any data you collect from your players, and for meeting whatever laws apply where you and your players are.
Changes to these terms
These terms can change as the project changes. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date at the top, and every revision is public in the website repository. Continuing to use the site or the software means the current version applies.
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. Questions can go to the issue tracker.
